ERSCP-EMSU 2010 conference

25-29 October 2010, TU Delft

‘Knowledge Collaboration & Learning for Sustainable Innovation’ can be illustrated by the example of the traditional light bulb. To put an end to the traditional light bulb and its environmental impact and to change the way it has been used in society for so long not only requires new sustainable innovations, but also the collaboration of a range of stakeholders and actors. This should lead to increasing and sharing knowledge regarding sustainable innovation and learning by the stakeholders and actors involved. New innovations must lead to sustainable consumption and production through attractive products and services that are accepted by society and adopted by end-users, both in developing and developed countries. The conference will take place simultaneously in Delft in the Netherlands and in Cape Town, South Africa.

Sustainable urban development
Arie Voorburg, ARCADIS will give a lecture about sustainable urban development; an ethic challenge, continues change.

The speed and complexity of worldwide change are taxing every institution and complicating processes and functions. We need to understand cities as complex adaptive systems and question how to manage change. The complexity of social cultural-, ecological and economic systems, science and technology as the driving forces for urban development makes it necessary to abandon the perception of a global steady state. Successful urban development requires a new ethical value based economy. Need for new methods of financial calculus. A full paper will be published.
